Focus Trainer is a timer with auto-adjusting focus intervals. Start small with short focus sessions that you can easily master and work yourself up to ever-increasing lengths of focus time.



Get better at resisting distractions by immediately writing them down instead of letting them nag at your attention. Get them out of your head and follow up on them later (or not). If you do break your session take a second to note the cause. Over time, Focus Trainer will show you the most common interruptions so that you know what you need to work on.



SET A FOCUS TIMER

Decide for how long you want to focus and start the timer. Focus on your task until the time runs out. You need to reset the timer if you allow yourself to get distracted.



IMPROVE YOUR FOCUS - ONE STEP AT A TIME

Just like with other skills, start small and work yourself up. Begin with an easily manageable focus time. Focus Trainer will then gradually increase the length of your sessions.


DUMP DISTRACTIONS

Sooner or later a distraction will ask for your attention. A tangent thought, a shoutout from a coworker, or just a random idea. Before you let yourself get distracted by it, braindump it directly in the app. Write it down and forget about it - for the moment. Once your focus session is complete, you can pick it back up.



REFLECT ON INTERRUPTIONS

If you do let yourself get distracted, quickly note what caused it. Every once in a while, take a look at your collected notes. Focus Trainer will show you the most common reasons for interruptions. Tackle those first.
